The Chimay Gold is brewed in the heart of the Abbey of Scourmont and has hitherto been reserved for the monastic community, its guests and staff. Today everyone can enjoy its refreshing, spicy and hop flavors.
Our recipe is unchanged from the beginning and we are transparent about the ingredients in our beers. Water, barley malt, sugar, hops, herbs and yeast. The sugar is necessary for the creation of carbon dioxide by the second fermentation. Chimay Gold is a top-fermenting beer bottle that contains yeast.
The Chimay Gold is an authentic Trappist beer
This means that it is brewed within a Trappist monastery, under the supervision and responsibility of the monastic community, which is involved in the entire exploitation process of the beer.
The income from this activity is largely spent on the needs of the community and social works.
