This beer is one of the Trappist beers with the Authentic Trappist product logo. It meets the requirements that it be brewed within the walls of a Trappist abbey by the monks themselves or under their supervision, that the brewery belongs to the abbey, and that the proceeds be used for life in the abbey.
It was in 1914 that beer was last brewed in the Achelse Kluis. The tradition was restored in 1998.
Achel Trappist is brewed in 2 strengths: 8% and 9.5%. Both available in light and dark variants.
