St. Bernardus Prior 8 is a traditional abbey beer, brewed in the classic “Double” style. The original recipe dates back to when we were still brewing under license for the Westvleteren fathers.
Color
This delicious beer has a maroon color with a deep, red glow and a nice round foam layer.
Character, taste, aromas
St. Bernardus Prior 8 excels with its fruity aroma, tending towards tree fruits like red apple, but also with an exotic touch of figs and dates. The whole is rounded off with impressions of caramel and roasted malt. The malt-fruity full flavor provides a perfect balance between bitter & sweet.
Culinary
You can easily combine a beer with so much character with tasty and heavier dishes such as stews or meat dishes with creamy sauces. Despite its strong character, it is also a good aperitif beer.
